Lipgloss wars

Lipgloss doesn't really do anything for me, i'll be honest. But I seem to have acquired a few and thought why not put them against each other and see which comes out on top.

From left to right

  • Soap & Glory sexy mother pucker - Punchbowl
  • Rimmel Apocalips - Galaxy
  • Bella Pierre super lipgloss - Raspberry
  • Soap & Glory sexy mother pucker extreme plump - Pink out loud
  • Beautiful Movements Cosmetics lip gloss - Nude

I've arranged the short reviews below in least favourite to favourite order with the winner at the bottom.

5th place - Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker £9 find it here
Probably the most common Soap & Glory makeup product people get to try as it ALWAYS appears in gift sets. The tingle on the lips is addictive, I could sit and apply it all day but I do know it gets too much for some people. I don't think it makes my lips look any fuller & it's sticky. Really sticky. I've actually worn this on a night out before and felt like my mouth was sticking to my drink, and loose hair is a definite no-no for this one.

4th place - Sexy Mother Pucker XL £10 find it here
This is an almost clear gloss, and it's very glossy. The tingle is much more extreme than the original and lasts longer but again I didn't notice much of a difference in how my lips looked. It's nowhere near as sticky as the first one but it's still a bugger for hairs getting stuck to it. The applicator for this one you just squeeze from the tube onto the lips which is abit messy as it's easy to squeeze out too much product.

3rd place - Beautiful Movements - £12 find it here
A nice subtle shade with quite a sheer finish that isn't too in your face glossy. Definitely a nice day time one for work. It doesn't actually feel too sticky on the lips in fact it does feel quite conditioning but it's not good with hair. It does sink into the lips fairly quickly so I had to keep re applying this one.

2nd place - Bella Pierre £12.99 find it here
I can't get over my disappointment for the packaging with this one. i HATE when the lettering rubs off the sides, it just looks so cheap and to me this isn't a cheap product. However, I enjoy the colour of this. Similar to galaxy as you can see but in a glossier finish and if you look closely at the tube there are tiny sparkles in the gloss which is really subtle on the lips. There's no stickiness & it does smell like berries which is nice. It also contains lots of lovely ingredients which are conditioning for the lips.

1st place - Rimmel Apocalips £6.49 find it here
Galaxy is a lovely shade, it's a nice dark plum colour. It's actually a lip lacquer so it doesn't have the consistency of a lip gloss, it dries matte. It's a nice texture & not sticky in the slightest. I have found with this one it can leave the lip liner effect after eating/drinking but it's no biggie to re-apply. It's got quite a funny scent to it too but I can't think how to describe it, it's not awful though.

Fairly difficult to pick a winner between the Bella Pierre and Rimmel but the cheap packaging just swayed it for me as Rimmels is much nicer.

Hope you enjoyed reading :)

Tiny little pay day haul

I am terrible when it comes to picking up things spur of the moment. For example;

  • The coconut lip balm from Primark. I have millions of lip balms, but because it was on the till for £1 I had to have it.
  • The Kate Moss lipstick. I only went to Boots for concealer, but when Rimmel have lipsticks on offer at £3.99 it's rude not to really.

Three little pay day treats that cost less than £10 :)

I've been on the hunt for a darker lipstick for a while now and this Kate Moss shade immediately caught my eye. It's got a slight purple tone which is exactly what i was after whilst still being a lovely bright colour on the lips that can be built up to the desired shade. It lasted me a whole meal at TGI Friday's and stayed matte throughout without needing to reapply.

Find it here for £3.99 (usually £5.49)
& find the concealer here for £4.19

I've never really used a concealer, but after hearing people rave about the collection one I had to go out and get it. It matches my skin perfectly and really does last all day. I've had a bit of a breakout this week (due to drinking a lot of water I think) and it covered any imperfections brilliantly. It also does an amazing job for covering dark circles.

There's not much to say about the Primark lip balm really. I just adore coconut so I had to have it. It smells lovely but it's not very soft in the tin - think Vaseline but harder. It'll do for the car though or to keep in my pocket at the yard.

Finished look below!

Anyone else bought any treats this pay day?

My daily makeup routine

Hello everyone :) Hooray its Wednesday, over  the half way mark to the weekend!

Today's post is my everyday makeup routine. I'll admit I do not wear makeup everyday, I generally take it all off if I'm doing any form of exercise which is quite often and its rare i visit the stables with my slap on because the horses don't care what I look like, again...quite often. So this tends to be my "work wear" look.

  • I start off by washing, toning & moisturising with Boots own brand Tea Tree and witch hazel foaming face wash, cleansing and toning lotion & shine control daily moisturiser. These products are perfect for my oily skin and leave me feeling awake and refreshed ready to start my day. The face wash is also fab for removing makeup, even stubborn mascara which means I don't always have to use makeup remover at the end of the day. Bonus! They are usually on offer at Boots on the 3 for 2 deal or retail on their own for around £3.50. I have noticed a big difference in how open my pores are now and I seem to have fewer blackheads which is brilliant :) Apologies for the very bare face!

  • Next I apply my foundation, Clinique stay matte - oil free is my absolute saviour. Find it either at Boots or Clinique (personally I stick to boots to build up advantage points) I must have tried every foundation out there but this is the absolute best for oily skin in my opinion. I use shade neutral and it gives me skin a nice dewy glow & stays put all day long.

  • Step 3 is my blusher and highlighter. I use Rimmel London Stay Blushed  in pop of pink & Mememe Beat The Blues Highlighter  in Pearl Pink. The blusher is a cream and you only need the to use the smallest amount as it goes so far. I find this so much better than a powder, much less mess and there are no dusty makeup bag breakages, its also nice and subtle for work. The highlighter I just apply 3 small dots onto each cheekbone to give me abit of a glow/lift. Once these are applied i dust over my t-zone and chin with Lush - Emotional brilliance translucent powder which just sets my face and keeps excess oil at bay.

  • Step 4 - my most important step. Eyebrows & Mascara, usually with a little bit of eyeliner. My eyebrow pencil i could not live without, I look so bare without them drawn on! I have only ever used Rimmel's professional eyebrow pencil in hazel which as you can see is very well used. My mascara of choice at the moment is Soap & Glory - Thick and fast ultra volume in superjet black which isn't waterproof but mine is getting a bit old now so is starting to clump. My favourite eyeliner at present is Be a bombshell in Onyx which i received in an earlier glossy box but as far as I'm aware can only be purchased in America :( During the day i just apply a small amount half way along my upper lid but i usually sport flicks or wings for a more dramatic look.

And there we have it, my finished workwear face! Hair currently in a messy curly bun whilst I try to figure out what to do with this birds nest of curls!
